Nifedipine film coated tablet 20MG
COMPOSITION:
Each film coated tablet contains 20 mg Nifedipine in a sustained release formulation
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION:
Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker which reduces myocardial contractability and myocardial oxygen demand. It reduces peripheral vascular resistance and increases peripheral blood flow.
INDICATIONS:
Prophylaxis of chronic stable angina pectoris.
Treatment of mild to moderate hypertension.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Sensitivity to nifedipine.
Pregnancy and lactation.
WARNINGS:
Not be used in patients with cardiovascular shock.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
The usual dose is 20 mg to 40 mg twice per day.
SIDE EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Headache, facial flushing, dizziness, and nausea, a feeling of warmth, tiredness and gastrointestinal disturbances may occur.
Syncope has been reported.
Tachycardia, peripheral oedema (unrelated to congestive cardiac failure), perspiration and nervousness have been reported.
An increased frequency of Angina may occur.
Myocardial infarction, reversible gynaecomastica and gingival hyperplasia have been reported.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS:
Store in a dry place below 25°C.
